Raising Little Chefs


Little chefs in the Jellyfish room at Bede’s Nursery recently headed over to the Nursery and Holywell Cookery Centre, wooden spoons at the ready.

Cookery is an extremely creative way to get children involved in not only making some yummy foods, but looking at measuring ingredients, mixing, pouring and filling as well as gaining an understanding of their surroundings, being in a kitchen environment – sounds, smells and textures.


Our toddlers had great fun making bread rolls! Measuring out the flour and yeast and mixing it up with all the wet ingredients. It did get a little messy at times – but that’s the fun bit!


The Nursery was filled with the smell of freshly-made bread and the children loved taking their little bread rolls home to enjoy with their families.
