Getting Creative

It has been a busy term in Bede’s Nursery.

In the Jellyfish Room, the children have been continuing to learn about colours, focusing on orange. The children have taken part in various activities involving this colour. They have painted the tiger from ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’ and enjoyed listening to the story. The children have engaged in sensory play in which they explored oranges by touch and taste and used oranges for print making.

Following on from this, the children have been experimenting with colour mixing. We mixed different colours in bags to find out what happens.

The children decorated daffodils for St David’s Day and to celebrate Valentine’s Day, they decorated hearts with tissue paper and spoke about who they love.

Recently all the children, from the baby unit to Pre-School, celebrated Shrove Tuesday and World Book Day. It was lovely to see the activities that went on from tasting pancakes in the Jellyfish Room, to Pre-School where the children used counters to pay for their pancake.

World Book Day saw everyone dress up, including our children in the baby unit. There were a fantastic array of costumes on display! The children in the Jellyfish Room painted the Gruffalo whilst Pre-School did a story map of their favourite book, ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’, creating fantastic illustrations.
