The Mathematics department is an integral and successful part of Bede's Prep School.
Maths teachers at Bede's are keen and enthusiastic, always trying new ideas and bringing the subject alive for pupils whether in problem solving, practical work or looking at maths in everyday situations.
Pupils here enjoy Maths and look forward to the lessons. The topics studied are varied and interesting, continually building on previous knowledge and enabling pupils to progress at their own pace while still being stretched.
The achievements of individual pupils gives them the confidence they need to succeed, and we foster an atmosphere and environment in the department which means that everyone is happy to ask and answer even the most difficult questions.
We encourage pupils to think logically and independently and aim to give all pupils a broad mathematical education irrespective of their perceived mathematical ability.
Pupils at Bede's look forward to the Maths Projects, which are based on shape and space, and enjoy being challenged, participating in Individual Challenge competitions and meeting pupils from other schools for team work competitions.
Children leave Bede's Prep School confident with numbers, and with a sound understanding which allows them to move onto the challenges and changes they will face at senior school.
