Maths: Year 6 Compete at Eastbourne Maths Challenge
Four children from Year 6 took part in a Mathematics Challenge afternoon at Windlesham House School on Thursday.
The event involved 164 children from 35 different schools in the region.
There were three parts to the afternoon's competition. The first part involved twenty mental arithmetic questions where the children answered in multiple choice format. The next section imitated the television programme Countdown, where a set of numbers were given and the children had to use strategies to achieve the target answer.
There were twenty questions to complete in the time.
Finally there were a series of questions on cards that teams were asked to complete in turn, racing to get answers checked before moving on to the next card.
The two teams from Bede's performed extremely well, placing 10th and 19th out of 41 teams in their groups.
This is a terrific achievement.
They were also wonderful ambassadors for Bede's, showing good manners and behaviour at all times.
Congratulations to them.
