History: Year 6 trip to Canterbury Cathedral
On a particularly cold January morning, Year 6 set off for Canterbury Cathedral as part of their Medieval studies looking into the death of Thomas Beckett.
Undeterred by bad traffic the pupils arrived to participate in such delights as a Costumed Guided Tour of the Cathedral, an activities session where they had a go at being a stonemason, tried on Medieval knights outfit and even tried their hand at writing with a quill pen just like a medieval monk.
The pupils finished the day with a visit to the Canterbury Tales. An audio visual tour that allows you to step back in time to experience the sights and smells of 14th Century England whilst listening to the tales of Geoffrey Chaucer and his pilgrims on their way to Canterbury.
An excellent trip which brings to life, the children's learning of this period in history.
