Dance, Drama and More at Arts Week 2013

Hoops

Dance, circus skills, music, drama and art were all part of Bede's Prep School's Arts Week.

Events included contemporary dance workshops, by ex-Stomp dancer, Pete Francis, a performance by the University of Brighton Dance Group and ateliers by two artists in residence: local print-maker, engraver and painter, Teri Walsh, exhibited her work in the school library and spoke to the children about her art and Beth Tarbutt demonstrated mosaic-making in art lessons. There was also a lecture on Picasso's painting Guernica by the art expert, Professor Antony Slinn. Well known local organist, Paul Collins, gave an organ recital in the chapel.

Year 5 performed 'The Wind in the Willows' and on May Day there was a festival of ribbon dancing and flower-making in the playground.

Circus and performance skills were then celebrated in performances by pupils and staff in assembly.

Altogether, this was a celebration of the Arts and a chance for the pupils to experience and enjoy them.
