Music: Year 8 Concert Review 2013

19

After a long summer holiday and just three and a half weeks back into the school routine, Year 8 put on an excellent concert last week.

1There was a wide range of music played ranging from classical guitar to two full blown rock bands and the atmosphere was relaxed and cheery.

The ever popular On My Own from Les Miserables was sung beautifully by Hope Ball, with the audience so enraptured that you could have heard a pin drop!

It was a pleasure to hear Rosa Marks playing the oboe as it is such a rarely played instrument these days. She truly demonstrated just what a beautiful sound it makes.

We had some superb jazz piano from Oliver Hutchinson who played his own very impressive composition, and there was a rousing performance of Johnny B. Goode from one of our rock bands at the end.

Floyd did a really good job of comparing the event and it was a brilliant start to our concert series.  Year 8 have set a high standard for the year!
