History: Year 7 Visit HMS Victory

Year 7 spent the Autumn term studying the Defence of the Realm, from the French Revolution and Bonaparte's intended invasion to how the country chose to defend its self.

The children particularly enjoyed the section on the Navy and the idea of how sailors joined, the Press Gang, information about food on board, diseases and battle tactics.

The term ended with a trip to the historic Portsmouth Dockyard and a visit to the museums there, culminating in a tour on board HMS Victory itself.

The trip was a real highlight to the term, and provided the children with a fantastic opportunity to connect with relive their own history.
