History: Year 6 Trip to Canterbury

Despite the wet and windy weather, Year 6 had a fantastic time at Canterbury Cathedral and nothing could dampen our spirits!

We set off along the old town wall and through the high street arriving at our first destination: the Cathedral Education Centre.

Splitting into smaller groups, we all embarked on very exciting and informative activities: one group went to visit 'The Canterbury Tales', a brilliant enactment of Chaucer's stories about a group of pilgrims.

Another group went to the Education Room to take part in stone masonry, quill-writing and brass rubbing; and the final group were entertained by an excellent guide who got the children to don costumes before he took them on a re-enactment of Thomas Becket's last hours through the Cathedral and Cloisters.

The children were, as always, excellent ambassadors for Bede's in both behaviour and engagement and it was great to listen to their chatter about what they had enjoyed on the return journey home.
