Charity Fundraising: Sponsored Walk Raises £2,500

On the final Wednesday of the summer term, Bede's Prep School pupils embarked on a charity walk in aid of Arthritis Research.

All the pupils from Years 3-8 were involved in the walk from the Cuckmere Haven back to School, where a celebratory barbecue was laid on by the catering team.

Arthritis Research was chosen as the children wanted to walk in aid of those who, because of their illness, can find it difficult to walk themselves.

All the children were given the option whether to complete the full twelve kilometre walk or to join their friends at various points along the way. The vast majority of the school chose to complete the whole distance, including all the boys in Year 3, who seemed still full of energy when they arrived at the Hollow, where the Pre-Prep children joined the rest of the School for pre-barbecue activities.

The children purchased coloured t-shirts to wear depending on their year group and a sea of colour could be seen stretching along the Seven Sisters as they made their way back to School.

The sunshine probably helped the atmosphere of cheerful purpose which pervaded the day and raised £2632.94 for the charity.
