Cricket: U13 Sussex Champs

On Friday 18th July Bede's Prep School 1st XI Cricket Team claimed the Sussex Cup to become U13 Sussex Champions and complete a very successful cricket season for the school.

Head of Games Sharon Muxworthy has been extremely impressed with the boys progression and development throughout the academic year which has seen the schools' cricket teams crowned U12 Sussex Champions, U13 Sussex Champions and JET National Cup Winners under the leadership and coaching of Petch Lenham and her team of staff.

The U13 Sussex Final was an excellent match to watch between Steyning Grammar and Bede's Prep School.

Steyning batted first and scored 104 in 24 overs.  Etherington from Steyning Grammar batted extremely well and led his team with conviction and composure.  The Bede's bowlers bowled consistently with  Sarro 2 - 26, Gordon 3 - 22, Griffiths 3 - 8, and A Lenham 1 - 1.

Following tea, Bede's chased down the Steyning Grammar total in 21 overs, with the loss of 3 wickets.

Captain, Orr scored 10, S Lenham 53, Gordon 25 whilst Carter and Sarro hit the winning runs in their partnership.

Steyning Grammar's Tyler bowled very well and the team as a whole showed great depth in their bowling and fielding skills.

This was an exceptionally good final, Steyning Grammar bowled superbly, with a good line and length whilst the Bede's batsmen played with patience and skill.

This game was of high quality, and both teams played extremely well.  The Bede's boys thoroughly deserved to be Sussex Champions and finish their season with another success.

All the Bede's boys have contributed in their successful season.
