Tennis: Bede’s U13s and U11s Thrive at IAPS National Championships

Tennis: Bede’s U13s and U11s IAPS

This year the IAPS Nationals Tennis Championships was played in the most magnificent setting at Eton College, Windsor, from the 14-16 July, where the children believed they were playing in Hogwarts!

The Bede's team of U13 and U11 boys and girls fought in the fierce summer heat with great determination and brilliant play, against schools from all over Great Britain, and as far away as Scotland!

The U13 boys team consisted of Alastair Orr, Tom Gordon, Freddie Tuson, Oliver Carter and the U11 boys team included Will Hoff, Oliver Sherfield, Josh Prince-Smith, George Elder.

The U13 girls team meanwhile was made up of Saffron Dowse, Ariana Dowse, Lauren Bennett, Hope Ball, Chase Sutherland while the U11 girls were Lara Elder, Elise Sutherland and Lucy Elder.

All played quite inspired tennis.

In the Under 13 singles event, Alastair Orr and Tom Gordon made it to the quarter finals, as did Will Hoff and Oliver Sherfield in the Under 11 singles Event.

The girls Under 13 doubles event saw Saffron and Ariana Dowse make it to the quarter finals too. The star of the Bede's team was Saffron Dowse who nearly clinched the 2014 winning trophy, but was beaten in a tight final against Millfield.

All in all, this was a very successful IAPS Championships for Bede's yet again. Indeed, as Saffron is in Year 7 she is eligible for the tournament again next year.

We just can't wait!
