Reception: Getting Ready for Christmas!
The Reception children very much enjoyed getting ready for Christmas last week!
Pupils took part in a variety of Christmas-themed activities across the curriculum. Santa's workshop was very busy with the designing and making of toys, for example!
In the Cookery Centre, the children learned to weigh the ingredients for their Cheesy Stars and Christmas Trees. They also got messy making chocolate truffles!
There has been some beautiful handwriting in the cards which they designed on the computer.
In Maths meanwhile, the children had to solve some 'size' problems. The stockings, trees and Christmas puddings got all muddled up and had to be sorted from the smallest/shortest to the biggest/longest.
In construction there was a rather grand Santa's grotto made out of wooden bricks and the children got 'crafty' by making a clay tree decoration to take home.
Finally, the children loved taking part in 'A Magical Christmas Journey' which was this year's Nursery Nativity. The children learnt lots of songs and a dance; what a super group of sheep and angels!
