Swimming versus Holmewood House School

The U9, U11 and U12/13 teams were in action against Holmewood House on Monday and rose to the challenge against some strong opposition.

The gala was very friendly and enjoyable and gave many of our younger swimmers their first experience of swimming competitively in a six lane 25m pool.

Jasmine Cecil and Matthew Amos opened the gala by swimming an Individual Medley showing a great level of stamina throughout the four length swim but Jasmine was just beaten by Holmewood in the last 2 metres.

Tom Lloyd, Fernan Pomet Chamorro, Declan Shanks, Summer Lees, Kirstin Orr and Jake Baker won their races securing nine 1st places for Bede’s.

Many of the events were so close, with Bede’s just missing out on 1st places and taking very close 2nd places. Well done to Jasmine Cecil, Jake Baker, Kirstin Orr, Andrew Macsai, Hannah Jebb and Matthew Amos who achieved these 2nd places.

The relays were all equally close, with Bede’s taking 1st place in the Boys' U12/13 Medley Relay and a close 2nd on the Freestyle Relay. The starts and handovers in all the relays were really tight so well done; all the training in the pool really paid off!

Bede’s closed the gala by winning the squadron relay with a boy and girl from each age group participating, which all made for a very exciting finish to the gala.

Well done to everyone who swam!
