History and Art: Year 3 Sculpt Anglo Saxon Model Villages
As the culmination of a term’s work on looking at Anglo-Saxon life (Myths and Monsters), the children in Year 3 have spent a week designing, creating and advertising their own Anglo-Saxon settlements.
During the course of the term, the children have also looked at the myths and legends of the Anglo-Saxons, in particular ‘Beowulf’, which inspired them to write their own myths (creating their own monsters and heroes along the way).
During the Anglo-Saxon village project, the children used their knowledge of Anglo-Saxon life as well as persuasive writing techniques such as alliteration, emotive language and rhetorical questions.
Need we ask if the children enjoyed it? With a chance to practice their skills of modelling and painting too, it provided a great way to round off the term’s topic work!
