Sports Results: Summer Term Week 10

Cricket @ Sussex County Cup

On the same day at St James Cricket Club, Bede’s secured both the U14 County Cup and the U12 County Cup.

The U14s beat Seaford College by 8 wickets, with a brilliant bowling performance restricting Seaford to 82 in 20 overs. Bede’s then knocked the runs off in 10 overs for 2 wickets, with Ben Matthew making 40 not out.

The U12 team then beat Warden Park by 38 runs, with Archie Lenham and Aiden Plumley putting on 137 for the first wicket. Bede’s totalled 148 in 20 overs and Warden Park made 109 in response.

Bede’s U12s have now won the County Cup for five successive seasons, U14s for two. These wins put Bede’s again in the National U13 Bunbury and U15 Taverner’s Cups next year.

Ex-Sussex CCC player and Cricket Development Coach at Bede’s Neil Lenham said, ‘’It has been another brilliant season for the school, winning the U15 Blackshaw Cup and the 12s and 14s winning County Cups. The 13s are still in the County Cup and were also quarter finalists in both national competitions. A great effort by all.’’
