Netball versus Roedean (U15 Sussex County Cup Round 1)

This was always set to be a very challenging game to kick off the Schools Cup Series.

The first quarter saw the U15s taken by surprise, with Roedean hitting the ground running and securing a high number of goals. After a quick team talk at quarter time, the team knew that they had to up their game – and the pressure – to get back into the competition.

Thankfully they did and, although we weren't able to create many opportunities for shots, their focus and effort prevented Roedean from increasing their score.

Every player was man-on marking, with a particularly high number of interceptions from India.

In the third quarter, although the score difference was increasing, the U15s were resilient and kept on going, working hard to maintain pressure defensively and providing the shooters with more opportunities to increase our score.

Sarah and Hannah worked excellently together, helping to move the ball from the centre third into the attacking third, and when Iman and Francesca were able to get around their tough defence their shooting ratio was high.

The final quarter saw further resilience from Bede’s, and despite their efforts we just weren't able to close the gap.

The 24-6 score line does not reflect the energy put into the game by the team, who played superbly.
