Me(ads End)rry Christmas!

The boarders at Meads End began this half term with a weekend trip to Herstmonceux Observatory.

The children had lots of fun experimenting with all the scientific activities before the Year 8 boys then headed off to watch England defeat Argentina at Twickenham.

Not a bad first weekend back, all told!

Closer to home, we have had our own sporting glories to celebrate with Mimi having been selected to for the Sussex U13 Hockey team and Harry, Alfie, Kyle, Luke and Tom continuing to represent the Bede's 1st XV Rugby team and making it to the first round of the Sussex Cup.

At the start of December, the children were thrilled to get dressed up in their best party clothes and head up to the Senior School for Cabaret. The Winter Wonderland theme really got us in the mood for Christmas and we were all incredibly impressed with the quality of the performances.

The boarders then threw themselves into preparing for the Christmas Fair, turning their hands to making some lovely decorations and in so doing raising £220 which will go to the House charity, “School in a Bag” which helps children who are poor, orphaned or living in disaster afflicted areas, to go to school.

Through this and other fundraising endeavours this term, the House has raised enough money for 11 school bags – well on course to meet the target of 30 bags (one for each boarder) by the end of the summer term.

Moving into the last week, and with the bustle of the Fair over, we celebrated Christmas in more relaxed mode, with carol singing by the tree - and of course, the obligatory Secret Santa process which created more than a few festive giggles.

Thank you to all the boarders for contributing to what has been a delightful half term in almost every respect - have a very merry Christmas and get ready for a whole new term of adventures in the New Year!
