Science: Year 4 and 5 'Grow To Know'
We have had yet another very busy half-term in Science lessons at Bede's Prep, with the Year 4 and 5 children having a particularly informative time growing both organic and inorganic matter.
Year 5 enjoyed helping Ralph, our new groundsman, planting up the tubs in the school grounds and growing bulbs for Christmas while Science Club has seen the children making special festive decorations by growing 'Christmas Crystals.'
Elsewhere, our recent Enrichment Day saw the Year 4 children making balloon rockets; the event was a great success and enjoyed by all - not least the staff!
We were also lucky to have a beautiful sunny day for our trip to the Science Centre at Herstmonceux, during which the children toured the telescopes and had a great time with all the amazing interactive science exhibits.
The vision of the Science department at Bede's is to ensure that when the pupils move onto their chosen senior schools they have good science knowledge of the subject but they also have excellent practical skills.
Our team of science teachers are therefore proudly focussed on introducing important science concepts with hands-on experiments, and I am very happy and proud to see growth in all of these areas and many others too!
