History: Year 7 Get Hands On In History Lessons
Year 7 have been playing detective in history this week.
The lesson began with a visit from King Richard III, who gave them a proclamation about a terrible pestilence sweeping the land, and asking them to investigate the evidence his soldiers had collected before reporting back their findings.
In teams they then studied the evidence in the boxes deciding on whether it contained Cure, Cause or Symptom before writing up what they thought their evidence meant.
Opportunities for teamwork are a great way for children to gain confidence and share ideas enabling them to control their own learning with little or no input from their teacher required.
Next week we will be looking at the symptoms of the plague, looking at some really revolting pictures of plague victims and maybe a chance of creating our own plague victim complete with buboes, pus and vomit – Lovely!
