English: Book Week 2017

Last week, Bede’s Prep was alive with the excitement of our ‘Spellbound’ Book Week.

The children embraced the events that the week had to offer with workshops from visiting authors, book signings, competitions, treasure hunts and dressing up.

Years 2, 3 and 4 were treated to a morning with award-winning author, Josh Lacey, who made everyone laugh with his comical Dragonsitter books.

Gareth P Jones paid a visit to Pre-Prep, Year 5 and Year 6 armed with his mystery books and ukulele to present a fun and engaging musical workshop.

Years 7 and 8 were captivated by spooky tales from author and illustrator, Chris Priestley, and were keen to discover the whys and wherefores to his award-winning ‘Tales of Terror’ stories, as well as experiencing his creative workshop.

Tuesday was the start of the much anticipated treasure hunt which created a hive of excitement at the Prep.  The children followed cryptic clues and searched high and low for the three hidden items; a tiny wand, a book of spells and a Pegasus.  Needless to say, it didn’t take the children long to seek out the mystical treasures.

The highlight of Book Week was costume day.  The School was full of young wizards, witches and Willy Wonkas.  It was clear that the children had used their very creative imaginations to think outside the box which has made deciding on the ‘best dressed’ a very tricky task.

A special Book Week assembly will be held next week, to announce the winners and present their prizes.
