Year 4 Curriculum Enhancement Day
On Thursday 12 October, Bede’s Prep welcomed Year 4 pupils from schools in and around Eastbourne to join us for our Curriculum Enhancement Day.
As part of our ongoing Enhancement Programme, the children enjoyed a range of fun and exciting activities in Science, Languages, Art, Dance and Tennis. Mrs Rich, Head of Science, showed the class how to create aerodynamic rocket balloons and generated mini explosions in her lab, whilst another group showed off their skills in Latin, Russian and Japanese lessons.
After a break and some well-deserved refreshments, the Year 4s were ready to demonstrate their artistic talents with Ms Armitage. The children were taught how to paint with the effective use of test strips to create beautifully coloured shell artwork. The level of concentration and detail that went into their painting was nothing short of amazing.
After some lunch, the children were invited to enjoy dance and tennis lessons. Mrs Ullah, Head of Dance, taught the group a fun and energetic street dance routine to ‘Uptown Funk’, which incorporated strutting, posing and hair flicks. Meanwhile, Mrs Nash, Head of Tennis, provided out guests with an hour of unique tennis training, enabling the children to perfect their volley and serve skills.
Upon asking the Year 4 group for their highlights of the day, opinions were divided between watching two metre high explosions, enjoying a delicious lunch and making new friends.
