U13 Girls Cricketers Declared Sussex County Champions

On Thursday 13 September, the Bede’s Prep’s U13 Girls Cricket team travelled to Poynings Cricket Club for the Final of the Sussex Schools Cricket Championships against Tanbridge House.

Bede’s won the match with an impressive score of 58-4 (compared with Tanbridge House’s 46-3), and were declared the tournament champions for 2018.

The Final rounded off a successful season for the girls, who also played against Ratton, Claremont, Roedean, Bexhill College, Brighton College and Downlands in the tournament.

All of the girls batted well. Kayla Ginger, Amelie Barker, Maddie Smith and Matilda Collins bowled accurately and intelligently. Lizzie Morgan, Grace Tuson, Milly Treneman and Kirstin Orr played positively throughout. Matilda, Maddie, Kayla and Amelie scored well and hit some excellent boundaries. Matilda took a superb catch off Amelie’s bowling, and Milly and Grace created a great Run Out.

The girls have played consistently well throughout the season while displaying a fantastic attitude, and fully deserve the title of Sussex Champions. I can’t wait to see what the girls achieve in training and on the pitch over the next school year.
