Musical Talents Unveiled in Annual Inter-Section Music Competition
It was an absolute joy to witness the Bede’s Inter-Section Music Competition for the first time.
This year’s competition had a slightly new format to enable more soloists, whether instrumentalists or vocalists, to contribute, whatever their musical ability. The children performed magnificently, whether as part of the main group song, band or as a soloist. Section heads united their teams which brought a shared sense of achievement for each pupil. The seriousness and sense of commitment involved was illustrated by the deployment of costume and also through the use of confetti and live animals as part of the acts.
Our guest judge, Penny Loosemore, from The Brighton Film Quartet (a talented performer herself) was certainly impressed by the enthusiasm and standard of entries to this year’s competition.
Well done to everyone who participated!
The winning band was from Raven, the winning solo vocalist from Falcon, the winning instrumental solo from Eagle and the winning section song was by Eagle. The overall winners were Raven, by a narrow margin over the other three sections who were all 1 point apart in the final tally.
