Music and Drama Scholars Evening Celebrates Talented Pupils
The Drama Masterclass and the Music Scholars delighted an audience with an evening of dramatic monologues and duologues, as well as some stunning musical pieces.
This occasion gave our Performing Arts children the opportunity to perform to an audience of parents, staff and many of our Meads End boarders, showcasing their talents.
Summer (‘Too Late’), Kauther (‘Scream If You Want to Go Faster’) and William (‘Running’) all performed their scholarship pieces with raw emotion and intensity. All three pieces dealt with hard-hitting issues and the children clearly took on their characters with maturity, preparing for their scholarships. The Year 7 performances included Harry and Oscar, performing ‘The Thwarting of Baron Bolligrew’, Megan and Amy, performing ‘Runaways’, Archie and Mylo, performing ‘Mother Goose’s Golden Christmas’ and Olivia and Amelia performing ‘The Mirror’. These performances were, once again, delivered with comic brilliance or sensitivity, showing an understanding for the genre and context of their scenes.
On the Musical programme, Lena gave a stunning performance on the guitar, as well as a soulful performance vocally. It was an exciting opportunity for the musicians to perform on their ‘second’ instruments, not seen quite as often in public. Donnie made his debut on the piano as well as delivering a superb performance on the drums. Josh gave a vocal performance as well as finishing the evening with a phenomenal piano solo.
The evening was simply show-stopping; a confident and highly talented group of Bede’s pupils!
