Art and Design: 25 Years In Bloom
Eastbourne’s In Bloom event celebrated 25 years in March, and in celebration local schools were invited to present their carpet garden designs for the Finals.
The task was to produce a scale artwork of their proposed flowerbed designs based on the previous anniversary themes, together with cross-curricular classwork.
Year 4 researched ocean pollution in preparation for the competition, and studied poems, letters to Prime Minister Theresa May, animal population decline and evidence of how plastic is effecting our environment. Beautiful designs were submitted, featuring creatures such as crabs, starfish and lizards.

Saul and Bea from Year 5 represented the entries from Bede’s Prep. Both pupils delivered a spoken presentation to the Mayor of Eastbourne, Eastbourne Borough Council and Stone Cross Nurseries about the work that was exhibited at the Town Hall.
Bede’s Prep came second place in the competition and received a certificate of achievement. Well done to all involved.
