Pupils Delight With An Array Of Summer Concerts
The 2019 Pre-Prep Summer Concert illustrated brilliantly how children’s musical abilities grow with experience.
I am delighted with how far the children have come since the start of the academic year, and will continue on an exciting musical journey as they move up through the school. A particular highlight was the pupils singing ‘There’s No Telling How Far They’ll Go!’ The vast range of musical styles and genres in this concert ensured that there was something for every taste. From drumming and instrumental items to the rousing choral pieces.
At Bede’s there is a huge choice of co-curricular activities and learning an instrument alongside academic and sporting opportunities takes time and dedication. The Pre-Prep Soloists’ Concert drew the members of the audience to the edge of their seats.
The pupils confidently introduced themselves and performed solo, for everyone to enjoy, and should be congratulated on the effort which undoubtedly went into the learning and practising necessary to master each piece. These young musicians, on guitar, drums, piano, violin and voice, showed the audience how focus and determination can help each of us to develop new skills.
As we near the end of a wonderful year of music making the Prep School Summer Concert was a chance to show how exciting and varied music making at Bede’s is. So many of our musicians at Bede’s have learned not only to master their own instruments but are developing the advanced talent which is necessary to play harmoniously with others.
If you were at the concert, you will have seen how the ensembles and bands nurture this skill and make it possible for instrumentalists to shine in unison. There is some outstanding talent here at Bede’s and I am sure you will all be looking forward to seeing how the pupils progress in the years to come. They are a real credit to the Music department here at Bede’s Prep.
