It has been an exciting couple of weeks on the tennis court, as Bede's Prep has been named U11 and U13 County Champions!

On Saturday 11 May, Bede’s Prep were declared the winners at the annual U13 Tennis Tournament at Mayfield School for Girls, which saw 20 teams compete from across Sussex and Kent in an exciting afternoon of tennis.

The children fought through all four seasons as rain, hail, sun and wind descended – as only a British Summer could produce in one day! Emily and Ella played some outstanding tennis to win through many early rounds, which brought them to the final with Beneden. Bede's Prep won the match and lifted the trophy; what a great achievement!

On Friday 17 May, the U11 County Championships were held at Bede’s Senior School. Twenty teams battled for the title, not letting the typical British rain dampen their spirits! Bede’s girls Emily, Romilly, Emma and Alexandra played fantastic tennis to beat Brighton College and lift the trophy as Sussex Champions 2019.

The event was attended by the LTA, who determined the Fair Play awards. Bede’s girl Bea won the Individual Girl prize, whole the Bede’s B team (Henry, Archie, Archie, Callum and George) took home the Team Fair Play award. It was a fine day all round for Bede’s!

The tournaments were topped off with a sunny afternoon of competitive tennis at our annual Parent and Child Family Tournament. Held at Bede's Senior School on Saturday 19 May, the event saw parents and pupils battle for the coveted trophy.

After an epic final – which saw Stuart and Tyler being declared the winners – we enjoyed some tea and delightful cakes before heading home. Well done to everyone who took part!
