All schools are unique and have their own particular ethos and character.
Although Bede’s Prep and Senior Schools have evolved and changed over the years, successive Headmasters have maintained the driving principle of tailoring educational provision to each pupil’s unique needs.
It is appropriate then that the Founder Patrons of the Bede’s Foundation are Peter Pyemont, Headmaster of the Prep School from 1964 to 1999, when he handed over the reins to his brother Christopher, and Roger Perrin, Headmaster of the Senior School from its beginning in 1978 (overseeing its establishment at Upper Dicker in 1979) to his retirement in 2001.
Both Headmasters have innovated and developed the schools; under Peter Pyemont, Bede’s Prep became the first co-ed prep school in the country and under Roger Perrin St Bede’s at Upper Dicker became one of the fastest growing and successful schools in the country, with the pupil roll increasing from 60 children in its foundation year at Upper Dicker to 600 by the turn of the century.
