Charleston: Year Begins with Charity Efforts
September has been the month of fundraising for Charleston House!
It started with a huge bake off to support the Bedes Rocks music festival. The girls spent the evenings before the weekend making cakes, brownies and flapjacks to sell with tea and coffee to raise money for the Ghana Education Project.
Ashleigh Gibbon teamed up with Mrs Ballard and expertly decorated the cakes on the Saturday morning and then helped the girls serve the many who came to savour the delights of their work - all in a good cause of course!!
Sixth formers Ashleigh, Maisie, Rosie A, Rosie B, Isla , Mia, Lorna B, Alicia C, Lulu, Sidony all helped to serve ensuring plenty of money was raised for the House Charity.
Then, on Saturday 24th September, Charleston teamed up with the Dicker House boys to raise money by walking along the Downs from the Cuckmere.
It was a glorious Day and staff and students alike were blown away by the beauty of the landscape as we walked the Seven Sisters.
One or two members of staff and students raced each other up one or two of the sisters but Mathilda Homer from the Lower Fifth seemed to have the faster running style as they ascended the great heights before them.
A wonderful afternoon was had, and again some great funds were raised to complete the building of a school in Nkwanta, in the Volta Region of Ghana.
