Rugby: National Schools Sevens at Rosslyn Park

From its humble beginnings in 1939, the National Schools Sevens has evolved into the world's largest school Rugby tournament, with some 7,000 boys and girls aged 13 - 18 competing annually.

This year the Bede's boys played four games, but came up against some very stiff competition.

We lost our first game against an unpronounceable Welsh team (Ysgol Gyfun Y Strade), but put in a good performance. We won our second game relatively easily with tries from Josh Novell and Ryan Day, but lost our third, very narrowly, by 5 points.

Our fitness trailed off in the last game, but the boys never let their heads drop and continued to play ambitious, flowing rugby.

I would like to thank Josh Beegan, Harry Reilly, Max Ellery, Sam Margiotta and Chris Hibbard for today and their outstanding contribution to school rugby over the last 5 years.
