Design Technology: Student Exhibition 2013
On Friday 17 May, GCSE, AS and A2 Design and Technology students showcased their final coursework projects in the library.
This year, for the first time, parents were invited to view the students' work and spend the evening enjoying the hard work and effort they had put into their projects over the year.
All staff from the Design and Technology Department were in attendance throughout the evening, which saw parents and pupils enjoying light refreshments whilst looking at the exhibits.
It was evident very early on in the evening that the standard of the work produced this year from our students took our parents' breath away. There were many projects that could have been sold during the evening, in particular Richard White's adjustable oak sun-lounger, which incorporates colour changing LED lighting in its design.
Nick Potter, Head of Design and Technology, said of the evening," I was delighted with the attention to detail of the work this year. Our students have really shown a level of quality that would not look out of place in shops in the high street."
Stephen Morgan, who is a DT Scholar, added, "to see my TV storage unit on display in the library gave me such a thrill and made all the long hours I spent working on it in the workshop all the more worthwhile."
Ten of the students' projects have been entered into the Young Craftsman of the Year Competition'at the South of England Show in June, and we are confident of an award coming our way.
The nominated students are Richard White, Oliver Taplin, Stephen Morgan, Henry Lee, Marcos Segura, Caspar MacQueen, Babatunde Olufemi, Oliver Barber, Daniel Gotleib and Christopher Lucke.
