Dicker: Charity Quiz Evening Raises Over £500 for the Ghana Education Project

Dicker Quiz

On Thursday 10th October Dicker House hosted their first Quiz Night to help raise funds for the Ghana Education Project.

This event followed on from Dan Gottlieb's recent charity skydive in aid of the GEP.

The evening was well attended with teams comprising of parents, staff, senior prefects and pupils, although there was controversy before the event with the Headmaster "cherry picking" his team of school prefects, thus handicapping the Dicker House Team (who lost James Baldwin) and the Crossways Team (who lost Zoe Cauvin)!

Across the course of the evening, aside from the quiz itself, a raffle also took place and featured a huge range of prizes including Indian Head Massages, rounds of golf and a football signed by international superstar DJ Norman Cook, a.k.a. Fatboy Slim.

The Dicker House band, consisting of Lazar Liebenberg, Ed Stokes and Dan Gottlieb, also played hit tunes during breaks, including their recent entry into the House Music Competition, Play That Funky Music by Wild Cherry.

Mr Cheshire and Mr Jackson hosted the quiz, which comprised of six rounds. Going into the final round, the team from the Science Department were leading, but the experience of Team Parker came through, winning by 4 points in the end.

Team Parker has now won three quiz evenings in a row and are certainly the team to beat!

Dicker House unfortunately came last, but did well for such a young team! Mrs Lambeth was delighted that the Crossways girls came equal fourth with the Headmaster's team, even without their star performer.

The evening was a great success, raising over £500 for the Ghana Education Project, and I would like to thank all the parents, staff and students who attended, donated raffle prizes or helped with the organisation of the event.

Next term the boys will host a music and drama evening. Details will be sent out nearer the time.
