Bede's Prefects: Horror and Hilarity at Halloween Social

On 17 October, Bede's Halloween Social saw almost half of Bede's pupils and many staff transformed into a frightening array of zombies, skeletons, vampires and more.

Organised largely by the School Prefect Team, and the help of our Sixth Form Year Heads, Mr Henham and Mr Jackson, weeks of careful planning and coordination resulted in the most anticipated social event in the Bede's calendar.

The School Prefects even showed a terrifying video and dressing up in crazy costumes during Assembly just to advertise the event!

The main venue was converted into a haunted house, with hanging heads, cobwebs and plenty of blood (complete with its very own 'Scary Tunnel' - the only form of entry into the Disco!) which ensured that the whol event looked stunning.

Having hired two junior students from Dicker House and their professional team who run T&B Events Company to set up state of the art lighting and an enormous sound system, the pressure was mounting to see if the DJ's would deliver.

Thankfully, they did. Although not suited to the taste of the supervising staff, the pupils became a large, jumping, dancing mass. Of course, a particular hit with all was Michael Jackson's Thriller!

It was great to see all years, from Lower Fifth to Sixth Form, integrating and celebrating what was a brilliant end to a long first half of term.

When the house lights came back on it was evident from the tired smiles of both teachers and pupils that the event had been a roaring success!
