Congratulations to Bede's pupil and Deis House member Matt Morrish, who has come through a rigorous selection process to make the 18-man Independent Schools' National Squad.

The team will soon meet at St George's Park on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th December to play Shropshire Schools and the MK Dons select side. This initial get-together will provide a wonderful experience where Matt will get to stay, train and play where the full England National side gathers before their international matches.

The coming season for Matt and his teammates will include international fixtures against Australian Schools, Welsh Schools, The Royal Navy, Scottish Schools and a European tour during the Easter holidays.

Matt has also made it through to the final 24 of the English Schools trials (a culmination of schools from both the state and independent sector) where he is one of four goalkeepers vying for two spots. Everyone at Bede's is hopeful that Matt can make it through to this final squad where the games will be covered on Sky TV.

Bede's Head of Football David Legget said of Matt's accomplishments, "Matt has been in stunning form this year. He's a commanding presence at the back for Bede's 1st XI, and his recent selections and progress have been a fitting reward for his consistently high level of play."
