Football: Bede's Juniors play Brighton FC Academy

A mixture of U14 and U15 Bede's footballers played Brighton FC U14 full time professional academy yesterday, competing at the highest standard possible at this level.

Bede's started well and gave the opposition very little time to get into their stride with constant pressute from the midfield and front line, in particular Jamie Fielding.

With Bede's winning possession back quickly and regularly, we started to create some dangerous situations through Josh Goldin's excellent range of passing and Ashley Meffen's outstanding overlapping runs.

On the odd occasion that Brighton looked dangerous too, Harry Prow was always there to intercept or clear and Jack Sampson's handling in goal was excellent.

After 40 minutes, the score was 0-0.

As the second half kicked off, Bede's gave the opposition too much time and respect and were quickly punished. Brighton scored an excellent goal but, rather than dropping their heads, Bede's picked up their level again and soon equalised.

The goal came from Luca Page, who received the ball on the counter attack, spun his man and finished a one on one with the keeper.

The final stage of the game was very tight as Brighton pushed for a win and, although they dominated possession, Bede's never looked less than capable of victory.

Final Score: 1-1
