Dorter: House Pancake Sale Raises Funds for Children’s Charity
On Pancake Day this year, Dorter House held a huge Pancake Sale in aid of The Honeypot Children's Charity.
Our chosen cause for over a year now, Honeypot works to provide young carers with a break from demanding and stressful responsibilities at home and provide a safe, nurturing environment where children at risk can develop their full potential.
Over twenty girls were involved in the planning process, including transporting over one hundred pancakes up the hill from the House, gathering assorted goodies including marshmallows, chocolate spread and lemon and sugar for the toppings and learning to use our brand new crêpe maker.
Students and staff from across the school arrived at 10.30am precisely, sending the Dorter girls into temporary meltdown with multiple orders and specific instructions for adding just the right amount of marshmallows!
After some additional help from Mrs Murphy, Miss Jones and the staffroom microwave, everyone soon got into their stride, however, allowing over one hundred students to receive their piping hot deserts.
In total, the girls raised over £120 towards their Charity total for the year and had a great time in the process.
