Dicker: Jack Reviews The House Quiz
On Wednesday 8th October, Dicker House once again entertained the whole school with its annual quiz, promoting the Ghana Education Project and raising funds and awareness for the fantastic work the charity does in the remote area of Nkwanta.
GEP champions girls' education, and has helped build a school to enable more girls to complete their education and improve their quality of life.
The annual Quiz - open to parents, students and staff - was part of Dicker's fundraising week that also raised money through events such as the Dicker Five-a-side House Football Tournament, a whole-school FIFA tournament and an enthralling, highly competitive press-up challenge in which Mr Mills took on Lower Sixth pupil Samson Lock, who won 1100 to 810 over a whole day.
The Quiz itself was hosted by the wonderful quiz masters Mr Cheshire and Mr Jackson. We also had Dicker's finest musical talent performing during the music round in Archie Taylor and Jacob Liebenberg, Lower Fifth and First Year pupils respectively: both very talented pianists.
Toward the end of the evening Upper Sixth pupils presented raffle prizes to the lucky winners and helped make the whole atmosphere a lot more light-hearted following some tense rounds of Geography, Sport and Science, to name just a few.
All in all, it was a marvellous evening which Mr Mpandawana hosted expertly and I think every competitor came away buzzing from a wonderful mixture of entertainment and trivia.
Congratulations to Aristotle's Angels (Mr and Mrs Stannard, Tilly Maher, Bogdan Kagan, Piers Nathan, Ollie Morriss and Katy Eedle) who emerged narrow but well-deserved winners.
We look forward to seeing the Stannards, perhaps with another well-chosen group of students, try to retain their crown next year!
