Shooting: Freddie Wins Gold at English Schools Long Range Challenge
Bede's entered a team of four (Luke Tilbury, Freddie Agar, Cosmo Mealing and Chris Bowe) into this event - The English Schools Long Range Challenge - for the first time in 2014.
Leaving school at 10am yesterday morning, we arrived at Bisley to the intimidating sight of around 100 competitors from a dozen schools including Wellington, Greshams, Dauntsey's and Ellesmere College - some of the top shooting schools in the country.
Whilst the magic pin (traditionally) selected the wrong pairs, our team of four performed with credit, but it was in the individual event that two of our team excelled.
Lower Sixth boarder Cosmo Mealing from Camberlot House scored an excellent 187, which I think will gain him a top-20 place when the full list of results are published.
Freddie Agar of Deis House was the star of the show however, scoring 191, winning a gold medal for the top 17 year-old and taking 2nd place overall.
This is an outstanding achievement - very well done!
