Football versus Hampton School (ISFA Cup)
1st XI lost 2-1
Hampton started brightly and soon created the first chance of the match where David Carruthers pulled of a fantastic save to deny the Hampton forward.
As the half developed, the game became very tight until Hampton opened the scoring on the half-hour mark. This spurred Bede's into action and they soon replied levelling through a James Stone goal.
In the second half, the pitch and weather worsened and the game became quite scrappy at times with few chances for either team. That was until the Hampton forward created a yard of space 18 yards out and hit a low strike into the bottom corner.
Bede's pressed for an equaliser to no avail and Hampton ran out 2-1 winners in a very close match which was always going to be settled by the odd goal.
Head of Football Mr Caryer said, "It was a great shame that we drew each other so early in the competition as both teams look so strong this year and either could be potential finalists.
"The game was always going to be tight, especially as the last 4 times we have met they have all been draws! It was just Hampton's day today but we will come back stronger and learn from this experience - as all good sides do."
