Legat End of Year Show Transports Audiences

On Saturday 9th May the Legat School of Dance performed a breath taking end of year show entitled "Around the World in 80 Minutes".

The show transported the audience into many different locations across countries and continents. "Concerto A Legato" was set in the Royal Albert Hall on the last night of the Proms, "Sparkle Jolly Twinkle" depicted a snowy musical scene in Lapland, an "Excerpt from Swan Lake" transported the audience to the Marijinsky Theatre in St Petersburg, "The Umbrella Thorn" was a vibrant and physical piece set in the Veldt of South Africa.

One of the show stopping performances was the passionate and fiery "Electric Tango" set in Buenos Aires, the steamy capital of Argentina. Phoenix Tanner and Tamika Hitchman performed an opening Pas de Deux before the rest of the senior cast exploded onto stage and left the audience cheering and wanting more.

Another highlight was the finale Musical Theatre number of Jet Set, which involved every member of the Legat School coming together for a momentous piece to finish the show.

The talent and versatility of the young vocational dancers was evident throughout the rich and varied programme as the dances varied in genre such as classical ballet, contemporary dance, commercial jazz and musical theatre and each piece was created to display the control, strength, technical, performance and partnering skills of the dancers.

One audience member wrote "Around the World in 80 Minutes is one of the most enjoyable and memorable events I have been privileged to see in my 12 years here at Bede's."

We are extremely proud of every dancer in the Legat School of Dance and are especially proud of our graduating Upper Sixth students who are leaving us to continue their training at Trinity Laban, Laines Theatre Arts, Northern School of Contemporary Dance and Millennium Performing Arts.
