Another Best-Ever Year of Results for Bede’s Sixth Form

A* students Will, Anna, Meg, Hal and Abigail.

Sixth Form students from Bede's achieved the best A Level grades in the School's history today with 78% of results graded at A*-B and 49% of grades at A* or A.

Declared in the top 1% of schools nationally for Value Added at A Level earlier in 2015, Bede's has seen significant improvements in Sixth Form attainment over the last six years - up from 63% A*-B in 2010 - with records set across a range of academic departments in 2015 including Maths, Art and English where more than 60% of all grades were at A* or A.

Straight A* grades were achieved by individuals including Abigail Burton, who achieved straight A*s in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Art and who will now study Pure Maths at Oxford; Anna Moody, who achieved straight A*s or equivalents in Pre-U English Literature, Theatre Studies and Religious Studies and will now study English at Cambridge; and Meg Bradley, who achieved straight A*s in Biology, Maths and Chemistry and will go on to study Medicine at Southampton.

Bede's Headmaster Dr Richard Maloney said of the results, "We are all absolutely delighted that Bede's pupils have achieved such outstanding A Level results this year. Their success - comfortably the best in the School's history - represents all that is good about our school. Our pupils' contributions have been manifold in so many areas of school life and their academic achievements are just reward for their commitment and hard work."

Elsewhere, straight A*-A grades were also achieved by Lily Draper, who gained straight A*s in English, History and Art; Hal Potter, who earned A*AA in Biology, Maths and Computer Science; Olivia Prince-Smith, who earned A*A*A in English, History and Biology; Panagiotis Kalomenopoulos, who earned A*AA in Chemistry, Biology and Maths; Tilly Corbett, who earned A*AA in Film Studies, Art and Photography; and Will Brown who earned A*A*A or the equivalent in Business Management, Ceramics and Design Technology.

With 94% of all grades at A*-C and 100% of grades at A*-E, Bede's Academic Deputy Head John Tuson said, "I am exceptionally proud of and happy for our Upper Sixth leavers. In line with Bede's holistic educational philosophy, they are a wildly diverse collection of people who are not only talented academics but also accomplished artists, actors, musicians and sportspeople. Although we celebrate their exam results today, they are walking proof that an excellent education is about so much more."
