Knights: Prefects Arrange Community Outreach Project

A collection of exceptional Knights House students recently arranged a community outreach project called ‘Park Mead Paint’ at Upper Dicker’s local primary school.

Upper Sixth student Charlie Pugh led a team consisting of Marcus Hendry, Tom Stodart, Glen Taliford and Charlie Atkins in painting Park Mead’s outdoor buildings.

“Charlie organised the equipment, personnel and timing of the activity,” explained Knights Housemaster Mr Waterhouse, “and the boys duly set off down the road full of enthusiasm!”

Only on arrival did the team discover that the task they had set themselves was much larger than expected.

“The scale of the job did not dampen our mood or excitement,” Marcus explained.

“We just got stuck into it, working on our own window frames and skirting boards.”

“The boys worked tirelessly to finish the job,” continued Mr Waterhouse, “which is exactly the type of action we expect of our students.

“These efforts are testament to Bede’s belief that there is a wider community in Upper Dicker that is all connected. The efforts of these students, particularly in the way they organised everything themselves, shows how Knights House is engaged and willing to make a difference.”
