Knights: First Year Ben is a Runaway Success

First Year Knights boy Ben Walters recently took part in the Sussex Schools County Cross Country Championship, which took place on 20th January, coming in 12th place out of a very large field.

An exceptional runner, Ben had been preparing for the event throughout the Christmas break and during the race encountered a long, steep, icy hill which slowed him down more than he had expected; he has been working with Mr Morriss to make sure he peaks for the forthcoming race however, and is intent that any such obstacles will be overcome in the future.

Ben will, of course, need all the grit and determination he can muster in the coming days as his success in the Sussex Schools competition qualified him to represent Sussex in the South East Schools Inter-Counties race, which is being held on 6th February in Bexhill.

Beyond the South East School competition, Ben is also looking ahead to this term’s House Cross Country competition, and said, “The school has many talented runners but I am quietly optimistic about leading the Knights Junior Boys to an Inter-House victory.”

Everyone in Knights of course wishes Ben all the best. He is a talented and dedicated runner who we know will give of his best in every race he has.

We are following his progress with much excitement.
