Swimming versus Vinehall

Mrs Jebb’s full report:

An exciting swimming gala was held against Vinehall on Thursday evening with both teams swimming to a very high standard.

All the children including several new swimmers to Bede’s worked incredibly hard to achieve some fantastic results.

The Year 5 team worked well in their relay races and Archie Nelson achieved 1st place in Backstroke with Douglas Lambeth, Lewy Lawerence, Toby Burdekin and Max Konderando all contributing some good results.

Fernan Pomet Chamorro and Ollie Loach started the gala well for the Year 6 team, showing great technique in the Individual Medley. The team then went on to secure 1st and 2nd places in all the Individual events. Well done to Alex Dunne, Ollie Loach, Fernan Pomet Chamorro and William Gillett.

The Year 7 team showed great speed and technique in all their individual events with Tom Lloyd securing 1st place in the Front Crawl event.

The Year 6 team won the Freestyle Relay and our Year 8 team won the Medley Relay with fantastic starts, excellent handovers and an extremely close finish.

Finally, our Year 8s finished the gala with fantastic results. Juan Pomet Chamorro achieved a 1st place in his Individual Medley and Butterfly events while Freddie Loach and Gus Redding secured 1st and 2nd places in the Breaststroke.

The Bede’s team completed the gala with a smashing twelve 1st places and seventeen 2nd places, however Vinehall won by the narrowest of margins, with a difference in their final score of only a few points.

Thank you to our Swimming Captain, Gus Redding, who helped organise the team.

Fantastic swimming everyone!
