Autumn House Competitions See Bloomsbury Pull Ahead
Before Bede’ broke up for the Autumn half-term, the School’s 10 Houses dusted off their House Charity t-shirts and applied their war paint in preparation for the year’s second round of House Competitions.
With the contests taking place at the end of October, there was a Hallowe’en theme to proceedings, including a ‘House Pumpkin Carving’ contest judged by Art Technician Mr Hodges, Bede’s Headmaster Mr Goodyer and Mrs Goodyer, his wife.
In spite of some outstanding entries from across the School, Deis House claimed the top spot with their outstanding effort - although due to the quality of the entries the judging took far longer than anyone had expected!
On the sporting front, the Senior and Junior House Football Competitions were won by Knights and Camberlot respectively, while the Senior and Junior House Hockey Competitions were won by Charleston and Crossways.

The Crossways girls also triumphed in the Girls’ Swimming while Bloomsbury House won both the Girls’ House Squash and Girls’ House Rowing Competitions. In the Boys’ House Rowing meanwhile, Dorms came out on top while Deis and Dicker came joint first in the Boys’ House Squash.
Last but not least, the Junior and Senior House Quizzes saw Camberlot and Stud triumph, while Knights House won the coveted Tower Building Challenge, which was hosted by the Physics department.

At the end of the afternoon, with the various accomplishments taken into account, Dorter, Stud, Charleston, Dorms and Dicker found themselves in the bottom half of the table, with Camberlot House inching up into 5th.
With 74 and 76 points, Deis and Knights presently occupy 4th and 3rd, while Crossways – fresh off the back of their House Music successes – are now in 2nd.

All of this means that Bloomsbury ended the half-term as they started it – at the top of the table, and now with a few points to spare.
Still to come this term is the Christmas Cake Decorating Competition, with the House Cross Country and another set of House Competitions to follow next half term.
