Dorms and Charleston: Charity Quiz Raises £1,000
Charleston and Dorms Houses recently held a charity quiz evening in aid of their respective charities.
This year Dorms are supporting Helping Rhinos, a charity creating awareness of the issues threatening the global rhino population and raising funds to help protect them for future generations.
Charleston meanwhile are supporting St Wilfrid’s Hospice in Eastbourne, providing quality care for those approaching the end of their lives or suffering life limiting conditions.
The evening was very well supported with over 60 students and many staff members attending the event.
Mr Cheshire and Mr Jackson were, as always, fantastic Quizmasters for the evening and put together round after round of entertaining and challenging questions for the audience to attempt.
There were representatives from most of the Houses, so competition was fierce at times. An excellent raffle also took place with prizes ranging from the usual boxes of chocolates to days out at the zoo and gift cards for various retailers.
In the main quiz event, the eventual winners were a group of Dorms House Sixth Formers who clearly knew their ‘Rastamouse’ from their White Rhino! (I guess you had to be there).
Very well done to them, but this really was a case of enjoying the taking part rather than the winning.
Everyone who attended had a really wonderful evening and a great deal of money was raised for two really worthwhile charities.
We would like to thank Mrs Martin and the Charleston prefects for helping us to set the Recital Room up and for getting the venue looking great, as well as Mr Juniper for drawing the raffle and making what could be a slightly dull interlude really rather entertaining!
