Inspection Report Sees Bede’s Rated ‘Excellent’ In All Areas
Bede’s Senior School is very happy to announce that it has been rated as excellent in all areas, the highest rating possible, in its first school inspection since 2013.
The inspection, which was conducted by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) took place over three days in February during which the school was assessed for its regulatory compliance, the learning outcomes and progress of its pupils, the quality of its pastoral care systems and its extra-curricular provision.
The consequent report identifies all of Bede’s provision as excellent and particularly emphasises how the Schools’ pupils are “determined to get the best out of themselves and are always willing to encourage each other’s achievements in and beyond the classroom.”
The inspectors also praised the “excellent relationships between teachers and their pupils,” and notes that the School enables its pupils to “make rapid progress” – an observation reinforced by Bede’s record in public examinations where, in the summer of 2016, 53% of Bede’s Sixth Form results were A* or A grades and 45% of GCSE results were A*-A.
The School's famously inclusive holistic values were also highlighted in the report, with the inspectors interviewing a diverse array of parents and pupils who paid testament to Bede’s commitment to ensuring children of all abilities “combine academic achievements with great success in creative and sporting domains” and the “excellent relationships between teachers and their pupils.”
Commenting on the outcome of the inspection, Bede’s Headmaster Peter Goodyer said, “This report is enormously gratifying. It is a wonderful endorsement of the inspirational and dedicated teaching and learning which takes place at Bede’s every day, and is recognition of the extraordinary progress the school and its remarkable pupils have made in recent years.”
