Bede's Pupils Selected For ISFA U16 and U18 National Squads
On Sunday 24 September, nine pupils from Bede’s travelled to Hertfordshire to attend the Independent Schools Football Association Girls National Trials.
The day consisted of small sided matches, with qualified coaches making their selections based on both ability and attitude. Four pupils were chosen for the National Squads, making Bede’s one of the most highly represented schools in the country.
Drew Lawrence and Leilanni Nesbeth were selected for the U18s and Leila Emmerson and Eloise Eyre were selected for the U16s. The girls will take part in the ISFA national representative programme, which includes development camps and international fixtures against Independent Schools.
Commenting on the girls’ achievements, Bede’s Head of Sport and Player Development Coach, David Byrne said, ‘I am delighted the girls have been selected to represent ISFA. At Bede’s we have invested significant time into developing girls’ football and this is reflected by their achievement. Girls’ football is growing in popularity nationwide, and this is mirrored in the growing numbers of girls participating in football at Bede’s.’
