Event Review: Activities Fair 2017
Bede’s third annual Activities Fair took place on Monday 4 September with each of the school’s 765 pupils attending and talking to staff about the various activities on offer.
Teachers and sports coaches worked together to promote the 100 clubs and activities available at the school each week, with Bede’s Sports Academies and Sports teams continuing to be a huge draw.
From Car Restoration to Cooking for Fun, Wine Making and Brewing to the Zoological Society, the Sports Complex was jam-packed with stalls promoting their activities, with an agonising number for pupils to choose from!
At Bede’s we strongly believe that learning takes place beyond the confines of the classroom and hence Co-Curricular choices are so important to ensure children have a rounded education. At Bede’s, three afternoons a week are dedicated to the Activities Programme.
At the same time we also believe it is important for our younger pupils to learn about commitment and team work and hence their choices are limited by compulsory sport for those selected for teams.
Choices range from long-established programmes such as those run by Bede’s prestigious Art, Drama and Music departments alongside new innovations such as Sailing, Go Karting and Extreme Sports.
Bede’s Co-Curricular Deputy Head Ms Woollett said of the Fair: "It is always wonderful to see the pupils engage with staff and enthuse about the different opportunities on offer to them, the activities programme teaches them so much about life beyond the classroom and is such an important part of their educational journey here at Bede’s."
